Northeast Boys Varsity Basketball knocked off Number 1 Seed JM Bennett 61 – 59 and advances to the 3A East Regional Finals. Brandon LeBarron started the game off on fire and scoring 11 points in the first quarter, and having 17 points at halftime. LeBarron finished the game with 21points and is now one 3pt field goal away from breaking Northeast High School’s single season record for 3pt field goals made. Keishon Thomas put the team on his back in the second half and scored 11 of his 13 points in the final half. Thomas hit two big 3 point baskets in the fourth quarter to help the Eagles regain the lead. Jaylin Albury had 12 points, and 6 assists. Albury’s biggest basket came at the end of the game off of a strong side drive to the hoop where he missed the layup, but was able to rebound his own miss, and get the the game winning put back at the buzzer. Brennen Volkman scored 10 points, and had 7 rebounds. Darrell Sheppard and Olimade Ajayi chipped in two points each. Trent McNeill contributed 1 point and had 4 assists. McNeill played some stellar defense again tonight and Northeast is now in the final 8! The next game will be played at 7:00 pm this Friday against Reservoir High School at Reservoir. Please come out and support the boys as they try and bring home a regional Championship, and advance to the final 4 held at the University of Maryland Comcast center.
